6.5 miles in 1hr 12 min!
Soooo as I have said before, I do love running. I used to always do 3 miles for a standard run. However, now that my workout is in the morning before work and I’m pressed for time, I’ve only been going two miles. And on the treadmill at that cuz its so hot in FL. I do love the treadmill - I like how it keeps you going at a steady pace, I listen to music and watch tv, and have my water bottle and towel right there in front of me. I only started running outside last fall. I became addicted! I love the fresh air! However, when I started on the treadmill again this summer, I realized how much I missed the treadmill. Both the treadmill and outside have their pro’s and con’s.
Anyways, I have been meaning to do the 6.5 mi around a block in our town for months. However, I either make it up the hill, decide I’ve had a good workout and go home, logging only 1.5 miles. Or I’ll make it up the hill, continue to the round about, then turn back for home, logging only 3.6 mi. Today I told myself its labor day, i have the day off work, i’m going to make it a great day, i’m doing that 6.5 I keep meaning to do. I love starting off a new season w/ an inspirational long run –granted I know its not fall yet, but I am ready for this heat to be gone! And these 75 degree mornings feel like fall in comparison to the normal 85 degree morns in FL. Sooooooo I made it up the hill, continued on. Made it to the round about, turned right. And made it all the way back home, w/ no short cuts! 6.5 mi! I typically run a ten min mile when I’m logging distance, so I expected w/ walking breaks that it would take me approx an hour and a half, at least if not longer. NOPE — 1 hr 12 min!!!!
So now I’m super pumped for today, although I’m thinkin I may be super sore later haha. I’m just so happy I did it!
I’m going to try to eat well today. Yesterday I started the day off well - an omellette full of veggies. Buuuut then I had two IPA’s ( loooots of carbs and cals ), 3 or 4 wings and 5 or 6 fried shrimp, a biiiig steak, and i’m sure other bad stuff. Damn holiday weekend!! Today I do need to re-load on carbs for my muscle redevelopment so I’m not super sore tomorrow, but good carbs like fruits and veggies. I’m going to stay away from the candy at work ( I didn’t have ANY candy for two whole weeks, until last week that is oops ), and try to take my lunch. If I don’t take my lunch, I’m going to do something healthy, a salad from Target Deli or a fruit and yogurt parfait from the Deli.
